P.E. and Sports Premium

What is Physical Education (P.E.)?

Physical Education develops the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding, so that they can perform with increasing competence and confidence in a range of physical activities including games, gymnastics, dance, athletics, outdoor activities and swimming. Physical Education promotes an understanding in children of their bodies in action. It involves thinking, selecting and applying skills and promotes attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle. Thus enable them to make informed choices about physical activity throughout their lives.

Sports Premium

Each year the school is allocated money by the government, Sports Premium, to use to enhance and encourage physical activity. Our intentions is that all our pupils will leave our school physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical and/or sport. Our objective is to achieve self sustaining improvement in the quality of physical activity and sport in our school against five key indicators.

  1. The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – kick starting healthy active lifestyles
  2. The profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement
  3. Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  4. A broader range of experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
