SEN Support – Our Local Offer

Long Sutton aims to provide the best learning environment and opportunities for your child. We are an inclusive, Christian school who work with you as parents and a wide variety of the local community and outside professionals. This enables us to provide the best possible outcomes and experiences for each child within our school. We aim to provide individualised provision to best meet the needs of all our children and any additional educational, social, emotional or physical needs a child may have.

Who do I see if I am worried?

Firstly see your child’s class teacher. You can arrange to speak to them at a convenient time for you both.

  1. You can also arrange to speak and meet with the SENCO (Mrs Julie Moseley), a member of the Senior leadership team (Mrs Manzi) or the Headteacher (Mrs Reynolds). This can be arranged through the school office.
  2. Further support

At this time we do not have a PFSA (Parent and Family Support Advisor), please contact the Head Teacher, Mrs Lizzie Reynolds, for support.

SEN Parent Workshops

These include workshops around Dyslexia, Autism, Sensory issues, Social Stories, Emotional Based School Avoidance, sleep etc. They are very good sessions; I recommend booking in on them. Click here to book on to them.

How do I know if my child needs extra help?

We hold regular meetings to discuss each child’s progress. If your child’s teacher has any concerns they will discuss this with you and the SENCo. You may be asked to give permission for outside professional support, which will be explained to you by the SENCo or Head.
How will the school support my child?

Your child’s education is primarily overseen by the teacher but within Long Sutton C of E Primary School, we offer support both in and outside of the classroom so your child may have support from Teaching Assistants, additional Teacher support or support from outside professionals in order to help them reach their full potential.

How accessible is the school environment?

We have access for wheelchair users throughout school and a disabled toilet and shower room. We aim to be accessible for children with specific needs. If you want to discuss accessibility and resources, please book an appointment to see the school. All children have a right to access school trips where it is safe to do so. You will be able discuss your child’s safety and specific needs with us.

Who might my child work with?

In consultation with you, it may be necessary to work and involve other professionals to support the school in planning appropriate provision for your child. These professionals could include:

  • Learning Support Advisors (LSS)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health Advisory Teachers
  • Physical Impairment and Medical Support (PIMS)
  • Visual Impairment Advisory Teachers (VI)
  • Hearing Impairment Advisory Teachers
  • Educational Psychologist
  • Autism and Communication Team
  • Integrated Therapy Services – Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy.
  • School Nurse
  • CAMHS (Children and Adults Mental Health Services)
  • Children’s Social care
